No electricity, water in Luhansk

43,000 people flee eastern Ukraine – State Service on Emergency Situations
KYIV, July 17 /Ukrinform/. Nearly 43,000 people, including almost 16,000 children, have left the area of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in eastern Ukraine for other regions in the country.
Head of the State Service on Emergency Situations Serhiy Bochkovsky said this at a briefing on Thursday, the service’s press office reported.
“A total of 42,993 persons, including 15,839 children, 5,000 disabled and elderly people, have currently been resettled. Last day alone the number of displaced persons reached 1,092,” he said.
Bochkovsky noted that the problem with the evacuation from the ATO area of orphans and children deprived of parental care who are in specialized children’s homes was currently being resolved.
He noted that there were 179 children under the age of three in four orphanages in Donetsk region.
NSDC: Russian aircraft shot down Ukrainian Su-25 plane
KYIV, July 17 /Ukrinform/. A Russian military plane shot down a Su-25 aircraft of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Wednesday, July 16.
National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) spokesman Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing at Ukrinform on Thursday.
“Russia committed another provocation on July 16 at about 19.00. A military plane of the Russian Armed Forces launched a missile strike against a Su-25 aircraft of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which performed tasks on Ukrainian territory. Our plane was shot down,” he said.
According to Lysenko, a Ukrainian pilot ejected and was evacuated to safety by units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The pilot sustained no injuries.
Law enforcers’ roadblock comes under fire 15 minutes after drones’ ‘visit’
KYIV, July 17 /Ukrinform/. A roadblock of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces near the village of Stukalova Balka in Luhansk region came under fire 15 minutes after a “visit” by unmanned aerial vehicles.
The coordinator of the Information Resistance group, Dmytro Tymchuk, wrote this on his page on Facebook.
“Two unmanned aerial vehicles of terrorists were seen near the village of Stukalova Balka. The drones came under fire, but they were not shot down. Fifteen minutes after the UAVs were detected terrorists opened fire on a roadblock of the ATO forces near Stukalova Balka,” he said.
Militants also shelled with mortars a security forces’ roadblock near the village of Metalist outside Luhansk. No casualties were reported among servicemen, Tymchuk added.

U.S. freezes assets of Russian military and energy companies

KYIV, July 17 /Ukrinform/. U.S. President Barack Obama has approved new sanctions against Russia due to the situation in Ukraine, a Ukrinform correspondent has reported, citing a White House statement.
“I have approved a new set of sanctions on some of Russia's largest companies and financial institutions. I've repeatedly made it clear that Russia must halt the flow of weapons and fighters across the border into Ukraine, that Russia must urge separatists to release their hostages and support a ceasefire, that Russia needs to pursue internationally mediated talks and agree to meaningful monitors on the border – I've made this clear directly to Mr. Putin. Many of our European partners have made this clear directly to Mr. Putin,” Obama said.
“We have to see concrete actions and not just words that Russia in fact is committed to trying to end this conflict along the Russia-Ukraine border. So far, Russia has failed to take any of the steps I have mentioned. Russia's support for the separatists and violations of Ukraine's sovereignty have continued,” reads the statement.
The United States has frozen the assets of a number of Russian companies.
Sanctions were imposed on big defense companies, including Kalashnikov Concern, JSC Concern Almaz-Antey, State Research And Production Enterprise Bazalt, Uralvagonzavod, JSC Instrument Design Bureau, Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies (KRET), JSC Concern Sozvezdie, as well as oil and gas sector companies – Novatek, Rosneft, Vnesheconombank, and Gazprombank.
The list also includes a company from Crimea – Feodosiya Enterprise on Providing Oil Products.

To remind, July 15, in Moscow on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya underground line between the stations Slaviansky Boulevard and Victory Park three subway cars went off the rails.
According to Russian rescuers, 22 persons died as a result of the accident.
NATO will have to send troops to Ukraine – Zeman
KYIV, July 16 /Ukrinform/. Western countries will have to take serious actions, up to sending NATO troops if Russia tries to capture new territories of Ukraine.
Czech President Milos Zeman said.
“At a time when Russia decides to expand its territory at the expense of the eastern lands of Ukraine, we will need to move from words to deeds,” Milos Zeman said in an interview with Czech media.
“In this case, I would advocate not only for stringent sanctions from the EU, but also for combat readiness of NATO, in particular, with the possible entry of the alliance on the territory of Ukraine … I am not a fighting hawk, but an attempt to capture the eastern Ukrainian territories – for me that is a line that cannot be crossed. But if it is crossed, from a dove of peace I will turn into a man, calling for strict sanctions,” the RBC (RosBusinessConsulting) quoted the Czech President.
EU gets started on DPR, LPR terrorists – FM Klimkin

KYIV, July 23 /Ukrinform/. Brussels is considering the possibility of recognizing the so-called “Donetsk People's Republic” (DPR) and “Luhansk People's Republic” (LPR) as terrorist, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin wrote on his Facebook page.
“They came to a bad end,” – a popular belief in Brussels. The EU is seriously studying the issue of declaring the DPR and LPR as terrorist organizations,” the diplomat said.
At the same time, he said that the EU fully supports the Ukrainian President regarding the “ceasefire to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine, not freezing the conflict.”
“Accordingly, the requirements of the EU to Russia: stop the flow of weapons and fighters across the border. They also urge them to pull their troops back from the border with Ukraine,” the diplomat noted.

ATO forces continue to flush out terrorists
KYIV, July 18 /Ukrinform/. The anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces closed the ring and pushed deep into the territory controlled by militants, director of the Center for Military Political Studies Dmytro Tymchuk wrote on his Facebook page on Friday.
“The ATO forces regrouped, having closed the ring, and are moving into the territory conditionally controlled by the terrorists, 10-15 km. Terrain enforcement is underway,” he said.
